In Greek Mythology, Themis was the personification of justice, the goddess of wisdom and good counsel, and the interpreter of the gods’ will. She was the daughter of Uranus (Heaven) and Gaea (Earth) and was married to Zeus, the king of Gods. Besides this she is also described as an ancient prophetic divinity, and is said to have been in possession of the Delphic oracle as the successor of Gaea, and previous to Apollo. She was represented as a woman of sober appearance carrying the scales of justice and a sword as a symbol of justice enforcement.
